Philipp Hacker

Philipp Hacker is a research professor and Chair for Law and Ethics of the Digital Society at European University Viadrina, where he holds appointments at both the Faculty of Law and the European New School of Digital Studies (ENS). He is co-founder and co-lead of the International Expert Consortium for the Regulation, Economics, and Computer Science of AI (RECSAI), alongside Sarah Hammer (Wharton).

Philipp’s academic work focuses on the regulation of emerging technologies, particularly AI. He regularly collaborates with computer scientists on topics such as algorithmic fairness and explainable AI, and advises international, European, and national institutions on AI regulation.
